Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to be an expert?
A: No you don’t, but you do need to be able to use the camera you have competently. By that I mean you don’t have to fumble around with it looking for adjustment dials and so on. I cover all the preparation and procedures for each of the 3 themes, so everything you need to know to make money is there. Any person of any age can succeed in the photography business. All you need is a passion for photography and to succeed in business. You will develop your own style and approach as you follow the guide, learning as you go along.

Q: How much can I earn?
A: How much do you want to earn? It depends on the time and effort you are prepared to put in. Some people will be happy working just a few spare hours each week; others may prefer to aim to work weekends. Working Saturday alone doing weddings you can potentially earn £30,000 to £50,000 per annum, part time! There is plenty of business out there, so what you earn is really up to you

Q: Does the guide work across a wide range of countries?
A: Yes. People everywhere are basically looking for a similar service. Legal matters may differ slightly but the guide will point you in the right direction to ensure you understand the specifics for your country. The procedures are the same the world over.

Q: Can I work from home?
A: Most definitely yes! Each of the 3 themes in the guide are very workable from home. In fact I recommend that you do work from home.

Q: What type of camera can I use?
A: It really doesn’t matter. I have a preference for medium format film; however digital quality is now accepted as being just as good. Don’t use any digital camera that has less than 5 Meg resolution. I would also advise not to use a compact camera, always use an SLR style system.

Q: How will it be possible for me to get business when I am up against the professionals?
A: How do you think most of them started! There is absolutely no doubt that there is a market out there for keen amateurs. With the methods in the guide you will learn how to make a start in small easy steps with little risk. You will quickly progress and feel more confident. You will develop a professional attitude, which along with your enthusiasm to be successful will ensure your friends and customers regard you as a professional.

Q: What level is the guide suitable for, for example I already shoot weddings?
A: It is aimed at those keen amateurs who feel competent enough to have a go, those who have the belief that they can succeed. If you already are successful in, for example wedding photography, you can will still pick up some tips and techniques. Remember the guide reflects 25 years of learning!
